Lady Gabriella Windsor wedding: Will Prince George and Princess Charlotte go? | Royal | News

Lady Gabriella Windsor will marry her fiancé Thomas Kingston this year but there is speculation senior members of the royal family will snub the wedding. This includes the youngest members of the royal family, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Even the Queen and Prince Philip are expected to be snubbed from the occasion.

As it could be a “low profile”, senior members may be missed off the guestlist, such as Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam said: “Senior members of the royal family were absent from the marriage of her brother Lord Frederick Windsor to the actress Sophie Winkleman in 2009.

“There will be speculation as to which senior royals will attend this.

“It’s a relatively low profile occasion as royal weddings go but given the insatiable appetite for royal news, there was more buzz around Eugenie’s wedding than expected, there will undoubtedly be interest in it.”

Buckingham Palace announced the wedding in September: “Prince and Princess Michael of Kent are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter Lady Gabriella Windsor to Mr Thomas Kingston.”

Lady Gabriella’s father is Prince Michael, who is the Queen’s first cousin.

Gabriella’s grandfather was Prince George of Kent, the younger brother of the Queen’s father, King George VI.

Lady Gabriella’s wedding is expected to be an intimate ceremony, with just close family and friends attending.

Members of the royal family did not attend her older brother’s wedding, Lord Frederick Windsor, in 2009.

The Queen missed the event and attended the 250th anniversary of the Queen’s Royal Lancers.

And Charles, Camilla, William and Harry did not attend the ceremony as they had prior commitments.

Prince Michael is occasionally seen at royal gatherings, with his family and sometimes carries out engagements on behalf of the Queen.

George and Charlotte are unlikely to be page boy and bridesmaid at the wedding either, especially if their parents are not invited.

However they have carried out the role in many other royal weddings, including to aunt Pippa Middleton at her wedding in May 2017 to James Matthews.

A year later they reprised the role for the royal wedding of the year – as their uncle Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle.

And just a few months later they walked down the aisle again at Princess Eugenie’s wedding in October.

The young royals had a key role in Sophie Carter’s wedding also at the end of last year.
